Colour & Symbols / Fun with Abstracts

TO ME, ABSTRACTION IN ART IS THE SAME THING AS CREATIVE WRITING AND POETRY ARE TO LITERATURE. AS A WRITER I FIND IT EASY AND SOOTHING TO CREATE ABSTRACT ART. FOR EXAMPLE, THE FLOWER BLANKET BELOW WAS CONSTRUCTED AT THE POOL WITH SIMPLY A PIECE OF PAPER, A RULER, A PENCIL AND SOME FELT PENS. IF YOU LOOK CAREFULLY YOU CAN STILL SEE THE PENCIL LINES FOR MAKING THE BLOCKS. THE REST WAS SIMPLY DOODLING.

THE OLD CIGAR BELOW WAS DONE IN A RESTAURANT. A MAN HAD LEFT THE TABLE WITH HIS OLD, SMELLY CIGAR STILL PUFFING AWAY. I WAS HIGHLY OFFENDED BUT IN MAKING THE ABSTRACT FOUND A WAY TO TURN SOMETHING NEGATIVE INTO SOMETHING POSITIVE

THE WOMAN WITH THE LAMP IS A COLLAGE REFERRING TO THE VALUES OF THE WESTERN WORLD. YOU CAN FIGURE THAT OUT

AT THE BOTTOM IS A NUPE INDIAN BLANKET THAT I GOT FROM A COLORING BOOK. I SIMPLY COLORED IT - LOADS OF FUN AND A GREAT A WAY TO GET STARTED IN THE ABSTRACT WORLD.

ABOVE ALL - DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY - JUST HAVE FUN !!!!!
