Exhibition 2

THIS WAS SUCH A FUN WEAVING TO DESIGN AND EXECUTE. I COLLECTED TIES FROM ALL OF MY MEN FRIENDS AND THEN WOVE THEM INTO A HANGING. THE BEST PART WAS THAT ALL OF THE TIE GIVERS CAME TO THE EXHIBITION, WITH THEIR WIVES, LOVERS OR FAMILIES. IT WAS GREAT FUN TO SEE THEM
BRAGGING ABOUT WHICH TIE WAS THEIRS.

AFTERWARDS BUD GAVE A WONDERFUL
CHAMPAGNE DINNER FOR FIFTY, IN MY
HONOUR AT TRILBY'S - THIS WAS A NIGHT I SHALL REMEMBER FOREVER AS I MOVED TO THE CARIBBEAN SHORTLY AFTERWARDS AND HAD TO SELL MY LOOM.

TREE HARP - ABOVE- WAS WOVEN WITH A BOBBY PIN ON A PIECE OF DRIFTWOOD THAT I FOUND ON THE BEACH

MEXICAN RUG - WAS WOVEN ON MY 60 INCH NILUS LECLARE LOOM - THE LARGEST SINGLE PERSON LOOM MADE AT THAT TIME. I LOVED IT BUT WHEN I MOVED TO THE CARIBBEAN I OBVIOUSLY COULDN'T TAKE IT. I ENDED UP SELLING IT TO A WEAVER WHO HAD JUST COME OUT OF REHAB. I PRACTICALLY GAVE IT AWAY BUT I KNEW THAT SHE WOULD LOVE IT AND CARE FOR IT. I CRIED BUCKETS WHEN SHE LEFT WITH IT, AND ALL OF MY WEAVING SUPPLIES THAT I HAD THROWN IN TO BOOT. LOSING MY LOOM WAS ALMOST AS DREADFUL AS LOSING MY HOME.

I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED TO DESIGN MY CLOTHES AND THEM MAKE/SEW THEM. I HAD ALL OF THESE SCRAPS OF TIES LEFT OVER AFTER I HAD WOVEN MY TIE HANGING ABOVE SO I DECIDED TO MAKE A TIBETAN BUDDHIST JACKET. THIS WAS IN 1981 SO YOU CAN SEE HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN AT THIS SORT OF THING (BELIEFS INCLUDED) I LINED THE JACKET WITH SATIN AND EDGED IT WITH VELVET. I WORE IT WITH JEANS AND HAD MORE FUN. IT IS STILL A PART OF MY WARDROBE
TODAY. DUSTI MADE A LONG TIBETAN COAT WHICH SHE GAVE TO ME BEFORE SHE DIED. I TREASURE IT AND WEAR IT OFTEN.
